Not a good night..........
An appalling result for .com on another
tricky alley ( yes another!! )
Extremely rubbery balls(Darkness had to
keep wiping his!!) and very bouncy pins(Aimed at Pistol's Legs) saw
a low scoring game all round.
The home team employed a "Barnes-Wallis"
approach which we just couldn't master (although StevieG managed a
few interesting deliveries towards the end). It seemed to require at
least 7 bounces before hitting any pin, except the front one, and
the ball would then ricochet around the diamond and knock a good few
down.
After a couple of pints "Black Sheep"
(Pickles switched to cider for the night with catastrophic results!)
we lost the toss and the oppos put themselves into bat.
With not even a sniff of a spare we found
ourselves 31 down at half-time, a particularly poor 49-70 leg doing
the most damage!
We fought back bravely and introduced the
"BW" (Brave Wide, this was a s*** or bust delivery in a desperate
attempt to get a spare rather than taking the easier pins down)
Deano was Quietly and Masterfully leading
the Waggers to victory and he and Pickles were battling it out for
the money.
Darkness weighed in with an impressive
spare, a huge cheer from the crowd, at last a comeback beckoned,
come on Darkness get a 6 or 7 with your spare ball...........Oh
No.........DEANO!!!
DK,Jacko,StevieG and Woody were battling
it out to be dropped next week and Pickles was full of gas and
wishing he'd stuck with the Ale!!!
A better second half saw us lose by 14
pins, The Waggers won 5-3 and Deano top scored with 70. Deano
immediately celebrated by eating......wait for it..........a piece
of lettuce!! and the £8 will pay for his weightwatchers subs this
week.
As we left the Car-park, a glimpse of
Pickles new BM being towed away by the bailliffs, he just can't
afford it without the £8 this week!!!
