Purple patch comes to an abrupt end!

A game we shouldn't have lost - aren't they all!!

Opposition start in fine form with an excellent 69 first leg....."Ahh, that's Ok" said the Captain, continuing where he left off last week.  The team responded with a splendid 73

in the main due to high spares by Jacko and Pickles. Second leg set 63, "need 8's" the captain said.  These words of wisdom were not understood by the three of the team(including the Captain!!!) and we shot an appalling 59 (although in the context of some of the ends this was actually, in hindsight, a good leg!!)...game on!!

Next leg " We need 8's" .......... this time the command was not understood by 6 of the team (including the Captain!!)...this pattern continued for the rest of the evening with the team never managing level 8's all night.......It must be said that the call did increase in both number and volume as the evening went on....................

............................"Need NINES now"

............................"Need SPARES now"

....................  "NEED A MIRACLE !"

So the luck had deserted us for the evening and we suffered our first defeat of the season by 19 pins.......please captain can we go back to the "Thats' OK" words of wisdom!

Despite the low of losing there were a few highlights worth a mention....

........Pickles is in the form of his life, after relinquishing the captaincy, scored an excellent 71 - This score was definitely more entertaining than the pasties (and lasted longer)!

........Jacko also hitting new heights this season....... started with fine spare and then well......I think too much coke got to him!

........DK.....complete with gashed shin, antibiotics in the arm and no alcohol got better as the evening progressed...the complete opposite to the rest of the team.....is there something to be learnt from this?

.....Pistol........"Can we move home allies please......I really did like Talaton!"

As for the rest of team, on their scores, they said.....

.........FILTHY..."if only that first ball would go where it should!"

..........Woody "Thats OK"

..........Stevie G "It's like missing a penalty at the kop end!"

..........Deano "I said I don't like driving!!"

In the TOPPERS (top 4 named on board) Vs WAGGERS (Bottom 4 named) the match was comfortably won by the Toppers by 5 legs to 3........This makes the overall score after 3 matches dead level (one win one draw each) although if the legs are taken into account then the Waggers are in front (12-11) but naturally this is only taken into consideration if beneficial to the Toppers!!!......
